We believe that our employees are the reason for our success, and we focus on their development and advancement opportunities as well as attracting top talent to our organization.<\/p>\n<h2>Summary<\/h2>\n<p>The General Laborer is responsible for various duties on a construction project such as, but not limited to, directing traffic in or around construction work zones, shoveling, and raking.<\/p>\n<h2>Responsibilities<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task<\/li>\n<li>Assist crew with various duties such as; shoveling and raking, safely backing\/dumping trucks<\/li>\n<li>Signal operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and materials with a shovel<\/li>\n<li>Lift, carry, and hold materials, tools, and supplies<\/li>\n<li>Assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones, and other traffic control devices<\/li>\n<li>Be kind and courteous to traveling public, pedestrians, and co-workers<\/li>\n<li>Follow direction of Foreman as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite<\/li>\n<li>Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required<\/li>\n<li>Other duties as may be assigned<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Qualifications<\/h2>\n<p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Education\/Experience<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High school diploma or General Education Degree GED is preferred<\/li>\n<li>Previous related experience in the construction field preferred<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Knowledge Skills\/Work Requirements<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check<\/li>\n<li>Must maintain current driver\u2019s license that meets state requirements, i.e., CDL, Class A and\/or B Driver with possible hazmat and tanker endorsements<\/li>\n<li>Strong time management\/organizational skills<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required<\/li>\n<li>Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required<\/li>\n<li>Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction<\/li>\n<li>Ability to read, write and do basic mathematical calculations<\/li>\n<li>Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Physical Requirements<\/h2>\n<p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear.<\/li>\n<li>Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.<\/li>\n<li>Able to work in all weather conditions.<\/li>\n<li>The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands.<\/li>\n<li>The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hand and arms above their shoulders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Competitive salary commensurate with experience.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12px;\"><em>This is to be considered an outline of the work involved in this position and should not be construed as a limitation of duties or responsibilities from the standpoint of the employee or of Huyser Asphalt.
